Things to know

What are the advantages of linear rails

One of the main advantages of linear rails is their ability to deliver smooth, predictable and low-friction motion. By using rolling elements such as balls or rollers, linear guides greatly reduce resistance compared to sliding contact systems. This results in more efficient motion, reduced energy consumption and slower component wear over time.

Corrosion-resistant materials, sealed bearings, and hardened raceways further extend durability and ensure long-term reliability across different environments. All these benefits make linear slides indispensable in automation, robotics, packaging and machining operations where uptime and accuracy matter.

No matter the application, Rollon aims to offer the most suitable configuration. From compact formats designed for space-critical assemblies to heavy-duty systems for demanding loads, Rollon’s linear rails ensure consistent performance in both precision-focused and high-speed environments.

How much weight can linear rails hold?

The weight that linear rails can support depends on several factors, including the rail size, the type of rolling element, the preload, the quality of the raceway hardening and the material used. In general, heavy-duty linear guides are designed to withstand high dynamic and static loads, making them suitable for industrial equipment, automated production lines and large-scale handling systems.

Lighter solutions such as aluminium-based linear guide rails can still handle significant loads while offering advantages in speed and ease of installation. Each Rollon product family is engineered to balance load capacity, rigidity, smoothness and environmental resistance. Choosing the correct rail size and model ensures optimal performance, extends service life and maintains the reliability expected in industrial settings.
